Another year of success for the popular football simulator. It has already sold 100+ copies, becoming a chart-topper in many countries.

In the United Kingdom, football has been a strong tradition for generations. It’s no wonder that FIFA 22 is topping the British charts. As of now, almost half a billion matches were played in the game, according to multiple sources.

It’s also the most ambitious FIFA entry ever, as it offers:

  • 700 teams.
  • 100 stadiums.
  • 17,000+ athletes.
  • World’s 30 prominent leagues.

But it also may be the last game with the FIFA prefix in the history of the franchise. The real-life FIFA requested a $1 billion check for the exclusive right to use its four letters. EA Games thinks it’d be cheaper to just drop the cult acronym.

As for the other games, the physical Among Us Editions — Crewmate, Impostor, and Ejected — managed to beat GTA Trilogy Remaster. The latter was poorly made, forcing Rockstar to apologize for the shabby work.

At least temporarily, Halo Infinite has been the world’s chart-topper this December. Call of Duty: Vanguard saw a bombastic premiere and a tragic flop later.

Among all else, it showed the worst commercial success in the UK, going down by 40% last November.

The best racing sim is undeniably Forza Horizon 5. Its hypnotic Mexican landscapes with majestic volcanoes and heat-emanating beaches managed to lure in 10 million players, making it one of the most successful games in the Xbox’s roster.

Cyberpunk 2077 was a real revelation by the year’s end — it rose from the ashes and re-entered the popularity charts.

Starting last June, it increased the sales by 374%, continuing to attract new players. This success became real thanks to a number of patches that removed notorious bugs.

2021 isn’t that eventful when it comes to massive releases. But it showed that you can always bounce back, no matter how big your failure can be in the beginning.
