The past year brought about a colossal change in the game industry chiefly driven by the pandemic, which caused almost everything to grind to a halt. With the steady series of lockdowns across several areas of the world, people began to find ways to keep themselves occupied and entertained. Mobile gaming became a choice activity, especially because it is simpler and more convenient than other channels while providing just as much fun.

As a result, while several other businesses were affected, the mobile gaming industry experienced a boom in revenue.

The mobile gaming industry is one of the highest performing industries in the world today, with a turnover of about $1.4 billion from the top 10 grossing mobile games for June 2021.

The Kings of Horror, the top-grossing mobile game across App Store and Google Play generated close to $277 million, leading for the fourth consecutive month in a row.

One of the most popular games released, PUBG mobile, grossed about $832 million worldwide within the first six months. However, Tencent dominated the charts, with the majority of revenue coming from an adapted Chinese localized version of the game, generating about 53.3 percent of the overall revenue.

Subsequent chart-toppers released include Ni no Kuni, Roblox 9Roblox corporation), Cross Worlds (NetMarble), Candy Crush Saga (king). In June 2021, consumer spending on mobile games grossed about $7.3 billion across App Store and Google Play, representing a 10 percent increase.

The pandemic has slowly but surely caused a lot of change worldwide, and people's gaming habits and interests have not been left out. As a matter of fact, we have seen the mobile gaming industry and the gaming industry at large bloom and blossom, and it only gets better.
