It’s been a while since the last Tales games hit the shelves: Tales of Crestona saw the light in July 2020. Tales of Arise was going to debut that same year, but coronavirus cancelled these ambitious plans.

Maybe it was for the better, since it was confirmed that Tales of Arise will be available for PS5. (Meanwhile, the original release would be available for just PS4).

The game is going to squeeze everything it can out of your pocket next-gen console, including Xbox Series X/S. The swanky next-gen features will include:

  • Very short loading screens.
  • 60 fps and 4K ultra-clear resolution.
  • Game Help — possibly a feature that will allow you to enter and focus on certain missions and challenges. But it’s just a rumor, plus it’ll be exclusively on PS5.

Of course, the refreshed visuals, presented by Namco Bandai, will leave no fan of the series emotionally untouched.

Judging by the bundle of screenshots the studio rolled out recently, you can clearly see that it’s not any worse than the PC visuals. (You can check them right here). All in all, there are 60 screenshots, each of which is a true optic symphony to an anime fan’s eye.

The game’s plot also sounds intriguing. Apparently, it will revolve around the controversy between two worlds: Dahna and Rena.

While Dahna is a planet that reveres Rena as the “home of the just and wise”, it turns out that Rena’s rulers have been simply exploiting the naive Dahna people for their gain and pleasure.

This class struggle will be peppered with a new combat system, a cast of new characters, probably a love sub-plot between two people from these two worlds and of course lots and lots of quests.

Coming Soon

Tales of Arise is expected to premier on September 10th 2021. You can pre-order the game on Steam right now.
