In a major breakthrough, the US-India Alliance for Women's Economic Empowerment has connected the private sector and civil society to help expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs in India. In a launch event, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken highlighted Google India's commitment to mentor 1 million women entrepreneurs.

Google India's commitment to mentoring 1 million women entrepreneurs will remarkably impact the increasing gender inequality and equity worldwide. This initiative is especially pertinent considering the current need to address the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Closing the gender gap in the workforce would add up to $28 trillion to the global economy by 2025.

The U.S. strategy for women's global economic security has at its core a simple vision: creating a world in which all women and girls around the world can contribute to and benefit from economic growth and global prosperity. To promote this, the strategy will focus on advancing women's economic competitiveness, providing foundational support such as child care and elder care, and expanding access to options that will help caregivers, most of whom are women, return to work.

To ensure the success of this strategy, the U.S. will also replicate efforts like the U.S.-India Alliance for Women's Economic Empowerment and provide technical assistance and training to women's chambers of commerce and business associations in 18 countries in Europe.

Efforts like these are vital to ensure an inclusive recovery from the pandemic and lead to the resolution of conflicts and challenges. Google India's commitment to mentor one million women entrepreneurs is an important step in the right direction and will help women reach their full potential.
