The effect of Among Us was in uncovering the potential of social deduction games online, and now it has a bunch of followers. It takes a lot to compete with such a name. So the upcoming game Eville already attracts tons of attraction for the very attempt. Set in a fantasy world, Eville will also involve its players as detectives, but little is known beyond that.

Eville is a fantasy-themed game developed by VestGames and distributed by Versus Evil. The description says it’s a social game where you can play either as a brutal murderer or as a peaceful villager who can yet protect themselves. And while the premise is much like Among Us!, the gameplay is different primarily because of totally different realization. Eville looks like a full-fledged 3D RPG, with a third-person view, and completing tasks between meetings can be just as attractive as the social part of it.

The release is expected later in 2022, first as Early Access. The only platform we know about is PC, as the game already has its page on Steam. Some lucky players, though, could play it during the open beta test, from January 21 to January 24. The reviews are not available yet, but as the rumor has it, the game has great potential. As for system requirements, they are surprisingly modest: 6 GB memory, Intel i5-2400 or higher, NVIDIA GTX 650 video card, and 2 GB storage.

While it is too early to speak of the game itself (at least before another round of beta testing), it’s fun to see how social deduction enters various sorts of online games. Probably the next level of its popularity will be its introduction in other genres, like classic MMORPG or Battle Royale, as a phase of gameplay. How can it be? Let the developers surprise us.

Are you still playing Among Us, or some of its followers? Which other social deduction games do you consider worthy? Before Eville is out, let’s recommend some good titles in the comments!
