Monterey, the 18th macOS edition receives new features from Apple, including much-expected updates on FaceTime. The new improvement definitely increases the chances of the app to compete with Zoom. Still, it is far from perfect and Apple has lots of work to do to leave all other competitors behind.

Since FaceTime was released, there were no such big updates made by Apple until this year. Although these features would be appreciated during the severe pandemic lockdown, at least now, we received them. After the integration of this service with iMessage, FaceTime continues to stay on top of the list of the simplest video calling apps. To begin a call, all you need is to press the button at the upper right corner of the app.

The new macOS offers you the new feature Spatial Audio. This option creates a unique sound field that makes you feel like you are talking face to face with another person. It cuts the background noise almost up to zero level, highlighting your voice. Apart from that, FaceTime finally comes to Android. Android owners still can’t make calls, but at least they can pick up the phone once the iOS owner shares the link with them. You will be able to use this link even on the browser.

For those who work using FaceTime, there is good news too. You may share the screen during the presentation you’ve created. Apart from that, you can invite your colleagues to take part in collaboration and join reports.

There are still multiple features we wish we had in FaceTime. One of them is that there is no Slack app that you can work with. The access would be much easier. The Android problem is still there as well since its users can’t start the conversation.

Which features do you want to see on FaceTime? Do you even use this app on your phone or laptop? You can share your comments below.
